BRAND DESIGN REVEAL - Dahlias + Orchids

I was SO excited to work on this brand design project!

I met Sabrena when we used to work together, and she's one of those people you meet in life that's just a beacon of light and positivity. She's smart, talented, and one of the sweetest people I've ever met.

Sabrena had initially messaged me for some #GirlBoss advice, and I was so happy to help her out. When she came to me and said she was launching her biz, I jumped at the chance to help with her brand design! Dahlias + Orchids is a unique home decor business that Sabrena's working super hard on -  it's officially launching this summer - follow along on Instagram for the latest updates!

Sabrena's style is super glamorous and a bit modern. She sent me a few inspiration images and I got to work.

All of my brand and logo design projects have some element of my artwork in them, and for this project I wanted to do a watercolor element. I thought it would be a great way to add in the orchid color without going overboard - the watercolor wash would add color and texture, with the rest of the logo staying crisp and modern.

I painted a custom watercolor wash in orchid tones, and used it as the basis for the main logo.

Once the watercolor wash was finished, it was time to decide on the other elements. I started off with the main logo, pictured above. We decided to go with a super modern sans serif typeface, with a crisp white border.

I kept the color palette super simple: pure, crisp white, and a lavender and plum pulled from the watercolor element. The other two elements were gold and marble, which Sabrena uses a lot in her interior design work. These might not be a part of the logo, but they will be a big part of her merchandising when she opens her business, so we wanted to include them.

I also designed some submarks for Sabrena to use in other elements of her branding, like her Instagram profile picture. I created a modern floral element to reflect the shape of a dahlia, one of Sabrena's favorite flowers and part of her business name. We didn't want to do an elaborate, traditional floral element, so this modern dahlia motif was perfect.

Sabrena is super happy with her chic brand design, and I was so thrilled to help out such a wonderful person!
